The Barbados Crop Over Festival spreads over period of approximately (12) weeks from the month of May through to August.

This summer Barbados invites travelers to live like a local and experience the island's lively Crop Over Festival, celebrating a 200 year-old tradition that honors the end of the sugar cane season. The six-week festival celebrates all that is Bajan with dusk till dawn parties, arts and crafts markets and a culinary-driven street fares./  &   (Music & Fun galore)

Crop Over Xplosion launches in fine style

First Citizens Crop Over Xplosion was off to a great start this afternoon as Barbadians of all walks of life were treated to a host of exciting activities.

Intermittent rain did not deter people as they arrived at King George V Memorial Park with numbers picking up just after 3 p.m. Barbadians could be seen eating snow cones, visiting stalls with their families and enjoying Tuk Band music.

The first ever Pop Up exhibition by the Barbados Museum and Historical Society attracted those interested in learning about the history of the festival.

The Rum Shop was also a popular stop to enjoy the island’s finest rum and socializing with others.

The Souse Eating Competition caught the attention of many who watched four contestants, each chewing on a plate of souse, with Devere Sealy emerging the winner.

Performers included .. Lil Rick, STIFFY, Nikita, Marzville, Iweb and Edwin.

Phenomenal Friday - Bashment Soca

Lil Rick takes the first Yello International Bashment Soca Crown.

Around 5 a.m. on Saturday at Kensington Oval, when host DJ Ras made the announcement, it was met with massive cheers from those who had the stamina to survive the six hour Phenomenonal Friday event.

Moments after the Hypa Dawg was crowned, he told the media he was looking forward to retaining his Party Monarch and Tune of the Crop titles. (TG)

The semifinalists - Results 

Sat July 21- At 1:35 a.m. the judges brought back the names of the nine who will go to Kensington Oval and there were murmurs of approval and disapproval

Cave Shepherd All Stars had four going through out of eight. All three from First Citizens De Big Show went through, House Of Soca had one out of the four that judged and Smokey Burke held firm for Super Gladiators.

Facing iWeb in the Pic-O-De-Crop finals on Fri July 27 - are Chrystal, AC, Mr Blood, Smokey Burke, Billboard, Structure, Kid Site, Jude Clarke and Donella.

Junior Calypso Monarch - Sat July 21

The results are in for the 2018 Junior Monarch competitions

Browne Star took the crown in the 7-12 category, with crowd favourite Mighty Bit Bit taking second place. Sakarah and Master Kei took third and fourth positions respectively.

Quon came out on top in the 13-18 category. He won by a mere two points over Yahandje’s 80. Dynamo gave a good account of himself and made it to third place, while De Overcomer took fourth position.

'Junior Kadooment' , Sat July 28- Kensington Oval

The results - Kevin Small’s Fifth Element Mas took the Best Junior Band prize at the 2018 Junior Kadooment competition.  This makes it the band’s fourth title since inception in 2014.. Second place went to veteran bandleader Gwyneth Squires and her band Los Barbados − The People Who came.

Third place went to Trevor Nicholls’ Young Spirits Community Group under the theme Mystical Angels in Fantasy

'Soca Royale' Bushy Park , Sun July 29

The results - Sweet Soca Competition- 

Lil Rick is the 2018 Sweet Soca Monarch, scoring full 100 points, and winning this competition for the first time.

Singing his popular tune, Breakfast in Bed, he scored 100 points to finish ahead of Mikey who captured 78 points.Biggie Irie placed third with 62 points and Bobo finished fourth with 48 points.


The results - Party Monarch Competition-

Mikey is the 2018 Party Monarch.

He captured 82 points with his song My Kinda Ah Party.

Stiffy placed second with 76 points, Lil Rick, third with 74 points and Mistah Dale finished fourth with 66 points.

'Pic-0-De-Crop' Calypso Monarch  - Fri Aug 03 - Kensington Oval

The results- Mr Blood is now holding the premier competition finals, beating tentmate and defending monarch iWeb who didn’t even place in the top five.

Mr Blood said he was elated at finally taking the crown after many years.

His two songs were Sexual Harassment and Stars And Stripes. In second place was Donella with 87 points and Adrian Clarke (AC) placed third with 82 points. Mr Blood said he is already planning for next year as he posed for pictures with his trophy and the new 2019 Nissan Xtrail. 


Rick rules at Foreday Morning

After claiming the International Bashment Soca and Sweet Soca crowns, popular entertainer Rickey Lil Rick Reed has captured a third title for the 2018 Crop Over season.

Earlier today, he emerged as the clear winner of the Jam Tune competition, for the most frequently played song during Foreday Morning.

In fact, he tied with himself for first place with his songs ‘Mudda Sally’ and ‘Ben It’.

Rick’s ‘Breakfast in Bed’ also tied with Jagwa De Champ’s ‘Correction Time’ for third place.

He is also seen a key contender for Road March – the most popular tune on the road – as Crop Over climaxes here on Monday in Grand Kadooment.

For his efforts, Rick collected $3,000 for first place, $2,500 for second place and shared in $500 for third place in the Jam Tune competition.

This adds to his earlier winnings of $80,000 in prize money in Bashment Soca, as well as a Mazda 3 vehicle valued at $79,900 and 10,000 in cash and other prizes in Sweet Soca

Band leader and designer of Fifth Element Kevin Small is in winner’s row for the second straight year at Grand Kadooment.

He copped the Robert Weekes award for Best Festival Designer and will drive away with a new vehicle from MQI and $7, 500.

Small also captured awards for Presentation of the Year, Small Band of the Year, Most Colorful Small Band of the Year, Traditional, Community Costume and Individual Male.

He placed second for the Historical award and finished third for Best Band on the Road.

Grand Kadooment 2018 was also a good year for veteran designer Gwyneth Squires .

She was second in line for Best Festival Designer and won awards for Historical, Topical, Best Band on the Road among others.

Betty West won the top spot in Historical, Topical, Most Colourful Large Band, Best Band on the Road and Large Band of the Year.


Lil Rick has copped his fourth title for Crop Over 2018.

He won this year’s Road March title with his song Mudda Sally.

Lil Rick who also won the International Bashment Soca competition, the Sweet Soca Title and Jam Tune competition for the most frequently played song during the Foreday Mornin’ last weekend wins $7500 in prize money for his Road March title.

He also placed third in the Road March competition with his song True Story.

Party Monarch Mikey placed second with Feting Family.
